- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala ls. On 03/30/07 while driving 55 mph on a clear, dry day the front passenger's side tire blew out. They were able to pull to side of the road, and raised the vehicle to change the tire. They were able to put the spare tire on the vehicle, and were in the process of putting on the lugs nuts when the vehicle dropped from the jack, and snapped the jack on both ends. When the vehicle fell, the tire well hit the driver on the head and shoulder causing injury. The spare tire came off and knocked the driver forward. The front passenger's side rotor fell onto the pavement. She had to call 911 for police assistance. The state trooper raised the vehicle with his jack and was able to change the tire for the contact. The trooper looked at the jack, and believed it to be defective. The contact has the trooper's information available if the NHTSA investigators need to contact him. The contact filed a complaint with GM, and she was given case# 71-506141092. The current mileage was 52,507 miles.
