For 2 mo's I have been having problems. My message board lights up Service Traction ABS light comes on!! I have had a wheel bearing replaced, brakes replaced all the way around the car and it still happens. When I am backing up or turning is when this happens most often.
I had it placed on a diagnostic computer today and was told there is no problems with the vehicle. Then 1 mile down the road the lights went off again. Does anyone know what the problem is or what needs to be repaired on the car? Is there a recall? I am a single mom of 3 and this is a constant worry. I am at the point I am scared to drive my car. Will this cause my brakes to fail at some point?

Service traction system, ABS, and traction off lights all come on at once. will all reset if you shut car off and restart. Has been in the shop (used car dealer) about 6 times. also replaced 2 wiring harnesses. They replaced front sensors twice each and right rear once. They are really trying. No charge for anything except for parts only on rear one. Just took it in AGAIN for same old problem. . Had a 2000 impala that wife put 163000 miles on and it is still going strong with no problems. Bought this 2005 a year ago and have been fighting this problem ever since. The used car dealer i bought it from even took it to the local GM dealer and had it diagnosed out of his own pocket and did their recomendation and that didn't do it. It will be just fine for a month or 2 then it comes back.
I Googled the problem and was shocked to see how common this problem is. WTF is GM doing about this. This problem spans many years and thousands of cars. They should be liable for this problem. How can the have this problem for so many years and not address it? Don't consumers have any rights? This is a real safety problem and some regulatory agency should be on top of this. In conditions where you need traction control and ABS where are they. People could die or be seriously injured by this. GM is about to loose a loyal customer of 42 years here. In closing I would like to say "BULLSHIT"

the traction light stays on and it effects the braking of the vehicle especially when the ground is wet but it does still does it when it's dry out. you feel it vibrating and a grinding sound when it acts up!!!!!

I just bought an '05 Impala because I like my '02 model so much but at the dealership during the test drive, the "Service Traction Control" light came on when we started driving but we had just been hit with a snow storm a few days before. I assumed that it was supposed to do that since the roads were still covered in slush. My husband told the salesman that the brakes felt like they needed to be replaced and so the dealership did so before we drove the car home (the front set only). The service light did go off but seems to come on and go off for no reason and I freaked out a little when the brake pedal seemed to respond differently for the short duration that the light is on. Of course, my old car didn't have the traction control option so I don't know how the car is supposed to respond when there is a traction issue. It was pretty scary since I had both my kids in the car when it happened.

September 2010 took to dealer for other problems. Advised that cost to repair abs/trac issue was over $2700.00. Refused to repair, does not affect operation of vehicle

the ABS light and traction control light are on. Neither are in working order. I have read several blogs about this same situation and it seems we are all having issues yet we can't figure it out. I took it to a couple of mechanics and the code states that it is the right front speed sensor. It ranges anywhere from 125 to $400 to fix! Does anyone know if there is a recall or anything on this? I am a damsel in distress. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.. I just got laid off and can't afford a professional but am willing to try most anything.

This second occurrence which happened after driving from Houston to Atlanta and returning two weeks later, then again when backing up the message center by the speedometer flashed "Service Traction System" within a few miles of driving the ABS light came on. Took to the dealer and on the 13 April 2007, dealer diagnosed and replaced the Ignition Switch and the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module.

this problem started with the traction control light coming on. then there was nothing i could of done to get it fixed, then the ABS light came on. took it with a mechanic and was told in order to fix the problem he will have to replace the ABS Control Module and replace the axle. that would cost me $780 to repair the problem, which i don't have that kind of money to spend. I tried to apply to get a card so i can make payments but i didn't get approved due to bad credit. this should be a recall. a lot of people have this issue and its not safe. my car didn't even pass the state inspection due to the brake light on, yet i already replaced all 4 rotors and brakes. i also bled the brakes and yet i just wonder maybe its the ABS Control Module that needs to be replaced?
