Each time that you adjust your temperature from heating to cooling or vice versa there is a clattering noise. When it first started it only lasted about 15 or 20 seconds now it lasts about 1 minute to 1 1/2. It sounds as if something is stuck from the switching and takes a while for it to release, but the air as well as the heating is still great.

We brought this car in Nov 2005 and never had really any problems until late 2012 early 2013. First the sensor went up in the middle of summer when it was hot and it was telling we had ice outside. It wouldn't give the right temperature. Then last year I turned on the heater in the car it was working ok, but when I turned it off there was a loud clicking noise . And at 4am that was a little scary. I had it checked out and fixed for about $250.00 . And guess what's back again this year. I can't afford to have it fixed right now so I have to keep the heat on at all times. I will never by another Chevy again if I buy another car

This knocking has been going on for a couple years now, each time I take it back they keep telling me that they only fixed one or they only fixed two or it has a right and left and they only fixed the right side and now it's the left. I called them again today 5/14/2014 and said look, you said the problem was fixed the last time, I don't have another $500 to give. So I'm supposed to take it in tomorrow 5/15/2014 to hear what they have to say.

Every time I turned my air on I would hear a very loud excessive rapid clicking noise so playing around with it one day I realized it only does this when it is on the coldest setting. If I push it up one notch so it is not at the coldest, the clicking stops. Does any one know what problem this indicates ?

I had this car for three years, and had to fix the A/C actuator three times. The auto mechanic told me it is a common Impala problem. I traded the car when the problem arose for a fourth time. It was so annoying to turn on the car a/c and then have this loud clapping noise go on for between 2 and 5 minutes. Even though the problem was covered under extended warranty that I purchased along with the car, I still had to pay a $50 deductible each time I had the problem fixed.

SO I WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR IT ONLY TAPPED WHEN CHANGING THE AIR FLOW. AND THAT WAS MARCH 16,2010 NOW SEPTEMBER 8,2011 IT MAKES A SECOND LONGER LOUDER FASTER TAPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE AIR FLOW. MY BEST FRIEND OWNS AN IMPALA AND HER NOISE JUST STAYS ON. IT NEVER GOES OFF. THE BAD PART IS THAT EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS OFF THE NOISE CONTINUES. THIS IS VERY EMBARRASSING AS WELL AS IRRITATING!

With cold weather, the defrost will not work. The A/C eventually cools down and there is a very loud clicking noise in the dash when I turn the fan on. HELP!
