The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and an abnormal noise emitted from the vehicle. The contact had to make several attempts before the vehicle would start. The dealer diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V355000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

I was driving down a 6 lane highway with a median in the middle. I was in the left hand lane/fast lane driving atleast 35-40mph. I hit a bump in the road and my ignition switched from run to off causing me to lose all power in the vehicle.. since I was in the left lane luckily a turn around was near and I was able to safely pull the vehicle over before my steering wheel locked up.
