I have had my Chevy Impala for over 5 years now and recently I have been having issues with the "engine is reducing power" which means my car will not do over 40MPGs. It started doing this very infrequently and now it does it almost every time I drive my car. I have replaced the throttle body and it still continues to happen. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? It looks as if it is a major issue and Chevy doesn't want to fix it. This issue could cause accidents especially if people are on the interstate when it happens. I do have grandchildren who ride in the car so I have to take the other roads instead of the interstate which takes me much longer. So I really wish the CHEVY or GMC would do something about this issue before someone gets hurt or worse dies from it.

Check engine light is on. Have had someone put a system check up to it and nothing is wrong.

Brought the car in March and found out after taking it to a independent garage for assessment the red light check engine light was there along. The code for the check engine light are 442 and 455. But currently the code for the engine is P2122 and P2138 code - reduce engine power. Accelerator Pedal with Sensor may fix issue.

My car's engine light come on and the DIC reads ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. After this happens the gas pedal becomes hard to push and the over all way my car runs is different. It takes a minute for the car to getr going after a complete stop and it struggles to go over 50

The car is less than 5 years old. I've had the battery and cable problem twice and now after I have the oil changed the check engine light comes on!!!!! Now what's that going to cost???

OK HERE WE GO. SO THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND HAS BEEN FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN THE (REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT} COMES ON AND CAN ONLY GO 20 MILES AN HOUR. IF THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER IS NOT ON I CAN GO AS FAST OR SLOW AS THE SPEED LIMIT IS. BUT IF THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT IS ON CAN ONLY GO 20 MILES PER HOUR...
I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE HOOKED IT UP TO BE TESTED ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MACHINE IT COST $85.50 TO DIAGNOSE IT AND IT CAME BACK AS P2318 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION APP SENSOR. SO HE CLEANED AND RECHECKED IT AND IT WAS SAYING IT WAS GOOD.
NOW 2 WEEKS LATER I AM DRIVING WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL MOTHERS DAY. I DROVE TO MY DESTINATION JUST FINE BUT WHEN I LEFT IT WAS DARK AND COULD ONLY GO 20 MILES AN HOUR, AND THE READING ON MY DASH SAID REDUCED ENGINE POWER. SO THANK GOD I COULD TAKE A ROAD THAT WAS 30 MPH UNTIL I GOT HOME. NEXT DAY THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT WAS OFF BUT THE ENGINE WAS ON AND I COULD DRIVE 70 MILES PER HOUR NO PROBLEM. THEN NEXT DAY THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AN IT WOULD ONLY GO 20 MILES AN HOUR.
SO NOW I AM GOING TO GM CHEVY DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT COULD BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND OR THE PEDDLE SENSOR ETC.. REALLY SAD THEY ARE SAYING OVER 500 DOLLARS OR MORE TO FIX THIS .. GM NEEDS TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM
