This seems to be a common problem with GM models in the Impala class for 2008-2010. I had Chevy dealership try....no luck. Then I bought it to 2 local mechanics again no luck. The car will start flashing ABS and traction control lights on the dash. Then the car slows to 40 mph very abruptly, then within 3 minutes, shuts down. I replaced wheel hub sensor, cable for sensor, throttle body.
I am writing to my congressman in light of what GM has done in the past by hiding problems. I cannot take this car on long trips, or on a freeway with trucks. It has happened a few times and luckily I was in the right lane and got off safely. One day I might be so lucky. If I had the money for another car I would junk this car.....never again GM.
And in the past week it happened 3 times, twice in one trip.

Several friends who own different years of Impalas are also having the same complaint WHY hasn't Chevy had a recall for this. This is our first Chevy for 30 plus years don't make me regret going back to owning a Chevy and not a Ford.

I am not sure why the service traction control light went on or how serious the problem is. Approximately how to fix? It does not appear to be a recall situation.
