We were on a trip to Ohio and were coming down from the mountains into West Va. When I applied the brakes the front end began to shake.

I took it to the dealership and was told that it was normal.

It can't be normal. Of course now the car is out of warranty.

This is my first GM product and my last, trust me!

The brakes were really bad so I had them checked and the report was the lining was hardly worn but the rotors were warped. I had new rotors and pads replaced and 4 months and 10,000 miles later I had the same problem. I took it back to the dealer and they turned the rotors and informed me they could only take a little off. The brakes are better but the mechanic said they are making the rotors really thin and he can't promise that I'm not going to have the same problem again. I guess if you buy a Chevy expect to replace or turn your rotors every 10,000 miles. I have bought Chevys for 40 years but it will not be my next car.

Unreal. We have liked this car but the rotors warping at 10,000 miles?? Incredible. The former posting is true. The rotors on the GM car are made in China from scrap metal. No wonder GM is going broke.

I had a 2007 and now 2008 and both have the same problem. My son and I were in Virginia, in the mountains with the 2007 and coming down a hill I had to drag my brakes. I thought the car was going to shake apart. When I took it to the dealer they tried to give it back to me without repairing anything (since it was under warranty). I took it for a test drive with the head mechanic and let him feel the problem. He tried to make it sound good, that there wasn't a big problem but I wished I could have taken him on that hill in VA. They changed the rotors and the problem went away. Now with the 2008 I'm having the same problem with 12,000 miles. I know Chevy and all car manufactures are trying to reduce cost, but if their putting cheaper quality brakes on the cars it's only a matter of time before it bites them. It's a great car but fix the brake and rotor quality.
