Our car had 73,972 miles on it when the transmission went out. my husband had been in a horrible explosion and was in ICU at the university of utah hospital. I was traveling back and forth when my car started toe die at every stop light. I finally made it home and called the Tooele Quality Chevrolet dealer the next morning, we had purchased the vehicle at this location and I told the service tech this. We talked about the problem and he never indicated it may still be under warranty the only thing he said was even if he looked at it he would not be able to do anything with it until the following week. I was in a situation that I needed my car as my husband was very sick in Intensive care he had been severely burned. So I contacted another mechanic that's was General Motors certified he said it we definitely the transmission and said he would not be able to get to it for a couple of weeks and suggested I take it to a transmission specialist hence how it ended up at Tanner Transmissions @ 1833 so state in SLC,UT. The next evening after a coworker asked if it was under warranty I stopped by the Tooele Quality Chevrolet and told the guy at the service desk, had called the previous morning and was never told whether or not it was still under warranty and my car was already at the transmission place being fixed. The new service guy asked me my name and said that he could look it up instantly he said it was covered under warranty, it was after 530 pm and Tanner transmission had already closed for the day, so I was unable to reach them to stop working on my car. he person at Quality said that the other service tech should have informed me of the possible warranty when I had originally called. My car was 40 miles away being repaired by this time and Quality in Tooele was not willing to tow it back to the Tooele store for repair, they said I could call Chevrolet stores in SLC and see if anyone of them could help me but hat was the best they could do. Frustrated I called the customer service people for GM and was told it wasn't something they could help me with I spoke to several people and none of them were able to help me. I asked to speak to a. GeneralMotors representative since the Car was clearly still under the 100,000 mile warranty and no one would help me reach a General Motor Rep, Tooele Quality told me they couldn't give his number out and GM customer care told me that was not there department. As a result I ended up paying out of my pocket the full 2842.42 which I feel General Motors should pay at least 1/2 of the cost for repair since their transmission failed at 73,972 miles and was diagnosed as such by one of their own GeneralMotor certified technicians. I was also told that the transmission failed because of a defect nothing that I could have prevented. GM in my opinion has not stood behind their warranty, so what good is it to have a warranty???

Going to our doctors and then find out that we can't leave cause we have no drive or reverse or 3rd gear!! All we had was 2nd and 1st!! We are on a fixed income so we don't have the funds to pay to replace the transmission! I have heard that several friends of ours that have had problems with their transmissions!!!
