Every few trips and sometimes it's piggy-backed EVERY trip, you hear the water gurgling in the coolant reservoir. At this point, it boils up to the the reservoir overspill and runs out onto the ground. AND the car doesn't overheat, so there is no warning. I actually thought the temperature gauge was broken because it has never showed that the car is running hot. I had it checked out by the mechanic- the gauge is good. We've been fortunate enough to "catch it" every time. Well, it is hard to miss the overwhelmingly loud gurgle, gurgle, gurgle under the hood.
The first effort to fix it- the radiator was clogged. Couldn't be unclogged, so the radiator was replaced along with the thermostat. But while the mechanic was in there (and he really isn't a shady mechanic- used him for years), he checked the water pump and it was in bad shape too, so it was replaced. We thought it fixed it, because I went a whole 2 weeks without problems, but lo and behold, luck only lasts so long- unless you include bad luck. I now carry 2L bottles of water everywhere I go so I don't get stranded when it happens again.
The mechanic has checked the motor head gaskets - no leaks, no problems. Even he is stumped and has begun researching and speaking with other mechanics. NOBODY can figure out what is wrong with the ^@*# car! And ladies and gents, I've only had it for about 3 months. These have not been my only repairs to this car- can't wait to see what other major problems unfold.. LEMON LAW..
