My vehicle is exhibiting the exact conditions outlined in the NHTSA bulletin 15400A: The front-passenger airbag status light will indicate that the airbag is "on" when the passenger seat is not occupied or is occupied by an infant. Additionally, the front-passenger seat's safety-belt warning light and chime may turn on when the passenger seat is not occupied and the seatbelt is not buckled. If the vehicle is involved in a crash that causes the front-passenger airbag to deploy and an infant is in the front-passenger seat, the airbag deployment may injure the child.

Multiple electric concerns...airbag light, park assist, inop camera, and losing communication with BCM(?) Found multiple communication codes for a variety of different modules. Found main source to be from the "side detection modules". Found fuse 62 blown underhood. Inspected side detection modules and found "a lot of corrosion" on both modules and connectors. Needs side detection kit. I purchased the used impala on 12/19/2020 with 63,897 miles. The first time this issue was a concern was on 07/02/2022 at Merit chevrolet (MN). Mileage was at 83144 at that time. Diagnosis... recommend both rear side detection modules and harness" According to Special coverage adjustment #N172097060 it is known to be subject to "water intrusion"? This problem affects the whole electrical system which includes airbag function. Why does this safety concern have a limited coverage time? According to the "Special Coverage" document, there was an 80000 mile timeline? This appears to be an ongoing issue with this year, make, and model and my feeling is that a "special coverage" is denying the safety problem and putting it on the consumer"

This car has exactly the same issues as reported in 15V465000 but Chevrolet refuses to acknowledge that this VIN should have been in their recall. The AOS systems in this Impala is improperly calibrated. My child in the front seat could be seriously injured. Chevrolet themselves verified this 2014 Impala has front vented-heated passenger seats. They still refuse to help in any way. This car does not turn the front passenger airbag on and off when it detects (or fails to detect) an adult occupant in that seat.

GM had sent a letter in March 2020 about a known defect with the passenger presence module that wires could become disconnected over time, leading to a service airbag message and the passenger airbag failing to deploy when commanded. GM stated that they would provide additional protection (read extended warranty) on this condition to be repaired at no cost within 8 years of the date the vehicle was placed in service or 80000 miles, whichever was first. My 2014 Impala just had this issue occur on July 4, 2021, and when requesting GM to perform this repair at no cost for me (vehicle mileage is 77000 miles), GM stated that this extended warranty ended January 2021. This date does not match the 8 years called out in the letter they sent, as the general public couldn't even buy this vehicle until April 1, 2013 at the very earliest. GM refuses to pay for the fix of a known defect within a critical safety system on one of their vehicles due to a poor design. Conveniently, this issue occurred on my Impala ~1-2 months after the supposed end of coverage date, even though there is nothing documenting why this date was chosen or any data that supports that this issue will only occur inside of the quoted extended warranty window in the letter. GM needs to issue a recall on this rather than an extended warranty that doesn't cover a known defect within their design/manufacturing.

My dashboard reads, service air bag. Everytime I turn it on as of this morning. 6/23/21 @ 1pm central time. I've read about the recall on these models as well of air bags deploying and throwing pieces of metal at drivers. Cause of molded air bag housing.

Received letter from GMC in March 2020 regarding electrical wire leading to passenger seat not deploying and may become disconnected and fail to deploy when commanded. Also an indication will be displayed on the dashboard. My car is experiencing this issue and GMC fails cover the cost because its not identified as recall. The states they will cover for no charge if within 8 years of originally placed in service or 80,000 miles (whichever comes first). GMC should already that 2014 cars will be well 80,000 miles in 2020! since this is a safety issue and lives are at stake, GMC should not make this financial burden for consumers. Additionally the electrical wiring for the entire system is an issue. My screen continues to blink in and out and show a system refresh and the radio, bluetooth capability, and locking mechanisms are inoperable as well. All of these issues started at the same time! GMC needs to take the same steps regarding airbag safety as Ford has done for their consumers with out of warranty vehicles! Ford is providing a free service to their customers because they value the lives more profits. I've taken vehicle for service today (4/9/21) and I'm looking a a healthy bill. Hopefully electrical/safety issues can be addressed with GMC as this issue has been identified in multiple forums including this website. The number associated with the electrical airbag issue is N192216430. The electrical issues with screen and airbag was identified when starting the car and no connection and airbag indicator on dashboard. This happened around June 2020. I spoke with Chevrolet customer assistance center today (4/9/21) and no help was offered for this issue.

The issue started out as a warning from the side detection system. In the past week, the issue escalated to all the warning lights on the dash coming on, and then all electronics going dead/dark. The turn signal indicators have no lights and no sound, the radio system is dead, the speedometer and gas gauge are dead. After sitting a few hours, it seemed that things "reset" to just the side detection warning. Most recently, all the electronics are acting strange. Pushing the button on the door handle to unlock it, does nothing to the door lock, however, the display screen shows "tire learning active". when attempting the start the car by pushing the start button, nothing happens. If I put the fob in the slot inside the armrest, it will eventually start, but again all display functions are dead as is the environmental controls (no blower - no defrost- no good on a cold rainy day). Again the signal indicators are dark and silent. The indicator light for the airbags is now illuminated as well. GM had a short lived (and seemingly secret) extended warranty for the side detection system have this exact issue when water got into the sensors, but that expired nearly a year ago. As this issue makes the car unsafe to drive, it seems that it should be a full recall to address this safety concern.

Hello, I have a general question about vehicle safety as it relates to automobile recalls/safety bulletins for Chevrolet. I own a Chevrolet vehicle and have found out that there are 2 issues with my car, one of them directly related to airbags and them deploying correctly. Chevrolet has only issued a safety bulletin, and has set ridiculous limits to what they are required to cover. I want to know how the dot has not required them to issue a recall to fix the issue on their cost. With this being related to safety I would have thought this was a very important matter. I would be happy to speak further on this. Feel free to email me back, and if someone would be willing to speak on that as well. Thanks

The blind spot detection sensor is corroding and shorting out. It is causing other systems on the car to show error messages and failures like the air bag and traction system well driving. It also keeps blowing fuses. This sensor was never properly protected from the elements. It also cost over $800 to replace one of them. I know this is the problem because I have had to replace them before and it is happening the exact same way.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the air bag and service air bag warning indicators illuminated. Also, the vehicle exhibited difficulty starting and experienced electrical system failure. The contact stated that the instrumental panel darkened, the rpms provided incorrect readings, and the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the battery and the alternator; however, the repair did not correct the failures. The contact stated that the vehicle had front vented heated seats and should be included in NHTSA campaign numbers 15V465000 (air bags). The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000.

I was driving on a residential street, going no more than 25 mph with my two two year olds in their car seats behind me. Suddenly and simultaneously, all four of the side airbags deployed (front and back), knocking my girls seats together, the front right side of the car dropped down and started grinding on the wheel. I was able to pull off to the side of the road thankfully. I turned the car off, and when I got out to look at the front, the car door shut, and for the first time, automatically locked me out, my kids inside, with its own key and my purse as well.

Water damage that has cause electrical issues with every electrical part of the car. Speedometer goes off while driving lights go off and on while driving. Sensors are beeping while driving radio gets loud turns off and on on its own. Airbag warnings while driving, battery shuts down. Its a mess.

I had a problem with the lane departure modules that explode and and caused my system to fail. Saying that my airbag deployed, my gas was empty, they theft is detected, the A/C blower motor turned on and off, finally I got the modules replaced, but now there are new safety issues happening. The light on the mirror to tell if someone is next to me turns on all the time. I almost ran off the raid because I was changing lanes and it went off and now one was there. The backup sensors are delayed in telling me if something is behind me or coming behind me. The front system does not make the car slow down when I am in cruse control and a car goes slo infornt of me. I don't trust that the airbag will go off if it needs to in a collision.. I really don't feel safe in this car.
