2014 Impala LTZ. Noticed started having shift issues. last month on the way home, had to slow for traffic, switched lanes and accelerated, had sever hesitation, and popping noise from the engine. No warning lights. This has happened before but don't have exact dates. Today, took car in for service and mentioned the issue. Here is what I was told by the tech. " this is a normal response from this transmission. When you slow down and then immediately try to accelerate, the transmission is try to compensate and the fluid has to reverse according to the valve position in the transmission and the signal it is receiving from the control module. So you just have to expect this". I asked why this seems to be a new issue since we bought the car new with zero miles on it. Crickets. He didn't have an answer. So no, no fix.

I bought my 2014 Impala 2LT in September of 2015. I loved the performance of the engine. It really had impressive power. Then, something changed. It would fail to respond to throttle going into sharp turns after heavy braking.
One example happened when I made a left turn off of a main road onto side street. The car hesitated, backfired, then took off. I don't know if the backfire damaged a sensor, or something, but since then the car seems to be holding back under heavy acceleration. It feels like it wants to go like it used to, but it just doesn't have the awesome power it once did.
The dealership checked it out, said they ran diagnostic checks on the engine and transmission, and everything checked out ok, so they didn't do anything to it. I was pretty discouraged to hear that news. The service associate that I dealt with said that it has some kind of adaptive something or other and that the feel of the car could change based on driving habits.
I wish I could coax it back to the way it ran when I first bought it! If anyone out there has had the same problem and has successfully solved it, I would be very appreciative if you could take a minute to let me know what you did to fix it.

The car is has unpredictable power. Some days its good, others it sucks. I can't stand it when it runs bad. Stepping on the pedal and getting little to no response sometimes and others it is right on with great acceleration and response. It feels like there is something holding it back or dragging. It is so frustrating because when it is good its so good, but when it is bad Ii hate it and wish I never got it.
The car has also shifted so hard or awkwardly at times, it has made my stomach drop from how bad it felt. Other times I have needed it to respond and it just doesn't, leaving me sitting in a pause or hesitation state. They also said my gas millage would get better with miles, I have yet to see that, as I still get barely 14 miles per gallon with 3700 miles on the car.I want to know where the car is hiding the other 2 cylinders (as it is not a v8, only a v6) and it gets awful gas millage.
It is sad that a 95 Ford Windstar van gets same gas mileage and is more consistent and predictable and at this point less stressful to drive, as i know what to expect when I drive the van. I have no idea what the car will be like each time I drive it. I own it too, the whole 32 thousand dollars worth of it. My first new car and my old ones are more predictable to drive.
I know if I put that much money into myself, I'd sure be rollin a lot better than it does will over half the time. It gets exhausting always having to try and explain the multiple issues that occur, to be told will if it doesn't do it at the dealership and so on. If one of the dealership people had to drive it daily in there own life they would understand, but who knows if they would want to admit it as then it would cost them time and money to fix.

I saw a previous post for a Chevrolet Colorado driver. As I was searching for issues with the Impala transmission I came across the Colorado post and have almost the exact same beef with the Impala 6 speed transmission. At slow speeds (in traffic for example) it just never seems to know what gear it wants to be in. Sometimes, it feels like you are trying to teach a new driver how to drive stick shift. (Bucking). I have even had passengers comment to me wondering what the problem is.
The car has been back to the dealer twice and the first time they claim to have reprogrammed the ECS and the TCS. I'm pretty sure I noticed a slight improvement but certainly not a solution. At the last dealer visit, when I drove with their transmission "expert" I was told this was normal and unfortunately Chevy Transmissions don't shift very smoothly. Great.
I'm especially annoyed, since I did test drive it and noticed the problem then. When I told the sales lady that I did not want to go through with the deal, she had their service manager call me to explain this was an adaptive transmission and these issues would resolve when the car got a few miles on it and learned my driving style. Not sure who has to adapt, me or the car. I have developed a few driving techniques to minimize the problem but it is still there after 4500 miles. I bought the story and also the car.
Has anyone else had this issue recognized or resolved?

Transmission lags between 1st and 2nd gear. I have to speed up for an extended period of time for the transmission to quiet down. From 2nd back to 1st, there is a loud thump, as if the Transmission dropped. Especially if I'm slowly coming to a stop. I feel my car jerk. I have taking it to the dealer several times. I guess the transmission has to fall out first.
