The paint on the hood began to fade first, so I didn't do anything just because I wanted to see if the faded paint was limited to that area of the car only. As time went on, the paint on the roof started fading and the paint on the trunk started to fade shortly afterwards. I thought I'd try to bring the luster back with some polish which did nothing but created dull swirls on the hood.
Coincidentally, I was in Louisiana, when a man drove up in a gray 2015 Impala at the McDonald's that I just walked out of and the paint on the hood, roof and trunk had the same fading as does mine. And I began to notice other gray impalas of that year and color and have seen several other cars suffering from the same problem. GM has to be of this problem because it is obvious that my problem with the poor paint job is not an isolated case.
