I have 2LT Impala with 83,000+ miles on it and for over the past year I've noticed issues with it shifting and shudders while driving at maintained speed. The first issue that was fixed by the dealer was the Torque converter. Now, this issue is the transmission, the dealer isn't quite sure what the problem is but they believe its a clutch going bad in the trans but they will give me more details later on in the week after they look into it more. (I dropped my car off Saturday 7/20/2019. Today is Monday 7/22/19.Thank God everything is under warranty. But with such low miles, it just baffles me there are so many transmission issues and not just with my car, other impalas as well. I just hope this is the last time I have to take my car in other routine maintenance.

I bought my 2015 Chevrolet Impala off the showroom floor and unfortunately I've had problems that hasn't been solved yet.

My last problem occurred again on the interstate on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

My husband and I were initially told back in December 2016 it was problems with the transmission. I broke down in the parking lot of my job after struggling to get off the interstate, supposedly that was fixed. A few weeks after I was traveling at night going north on I-75, and I again struggled in heavy traffic to get off the interstate due to the transmission. It was very hard to accelerate, the car was losing speed, the RPM was going up as far as 3rd, 4th, & 5th gears making an awful noise trying to shift and I had to get in the slow lane but thankfully I was near an exit to get to safer traffic. After a couple of weeks, they replaced the transmission with a new transmission. These incidents were in December 2016 and January 2017.

Now on June 8, 2017, I am struggling yet again with this brand new transmission. Again I am thankful I made it to work this morning safely. I was traveling north on I-75 headed to my job in Perry, Ga going about 75 mph in the middle lane. All of a sudden the car started losing speed again, I was pressing the accelerator for more speed and again it was making a loud pulling noise trying to shift gears, and the gears were trying to change as high as 3rd, 4th, & 5th gears. A semi truck was directly behind me in the middle lane, and I had to move over as safe as I can to get in the slower right lane due to my speed slowing down.

I have a tag on the front of my 2015 Impala that says, “Chevy Chic” because that’s what I am. I’ve always been a country girl and I USED TO love my impala, but these experiences with a car is not worth losing a life over.

Obviously no one can pin point what the problem(s) may be.

I went to the Lemon Law website and put in 2015 Chevrolet Impala and to my surprise there are several stories stating the same issues that I am having. Should there be a recall? Is GMC looking into these issues?

These incidents that have occurred on the interstates have been very scary incidents and they could have been life threatening if I was not able to get to safer traffic.

As you know these issues have been ongoing, and I do appreciate all that has been done to try and fix the problem(s), but the problem(s) are still present. So now we need to decide on another or different approach.

I have a 2015 Chevy Impala with 24,000 miles. The car runs great at normal speeds. My problem is the initial movement from a complete stop. As I accelerate, there is a significant pause/hesitation that always occurs at 12 MPH. It is very short but noticeable. The car will do the exact same pause/hesitation at 18 MPH. After it gets past those speeds, the car runs smoothly without any hesitations. When driving locally with many stop lights and traffic stops, this hesitation becomes very annoying. I have taken it to the dealer several times. The first time, the dealer replaced some part in the transmission which made the problem go away for a little while, but now I still get this hesitation and of course they have been unable to duplicate my concern and have not been able to find anything. I think this problem is more known than owners know.

Bought the car brand-new. So many wonderful creature comforts and a powerful engine. I love nearly everything about it. I've been a Chevy guy my whole life (father worked for GM for 40 years), and I read all the glowing reviews from the car magazines and just knew I was buying the right car.

However, the transmission is an embarrassment to an otherwise near-perfect car. During the 1-2 and 2-3 shift, there is a significant delay between when one gear disengages and the next engages, resulting in a momentary loss of power/acceleration. This is particularly disconcerting when turning left across a lane of oncoming traffic. It feels like the car is going to stall. No other gear sequences seem to experience this same issue. I've tried the "manu-matic" shifting, and it has the same issue. Click the "+" to up-shift from 1-2 or 2-3, and there is a delay between disengaging one gear and re-engaging the next.

I'm no transmission expert, but it feels like one of two things to me: 1) There is a software issue that is attempting to make the shift feel "smooth" by inserting a hesitation into low-speed shifting, or 2) There is a design issue or manufacturing flaw that is not providing enough fluid pressure at lower RPMs to ensure crisp shifting.

I've had it in to the dealer twice for this issue, and they are unable to provide a solution. I've test-driven another 3.6L LTZ from the lot, and it had the same issue, so it appears to be a transmission design or software issue, and not an isolated problem with my car. I first brought it in for this issue with about 500 miles on the car. They were "unable to duplicate the concern", and suggested I wait until about 200 miles on the car to ensure the PCM had sufficient time to "learn". Well, I've got nearly 9000 miles on it now, and still the exact same problem.

The question i keep asking myself is, "How did this POS transmission not get absolutely destroyed by the C&D, Motortrend, etc. reviews?" I can't find a single review online mentioning the poor transmission. Chevy either gave them a different transmission software, or this is a 2015 issue and the 2014s were unaffected. No way a pro vehicle reviewer doesn't pick up on this.

As much as I love everything else, I wish I had never bought this car. Friends and co-workers ask how I like it, and I have to tell them I don't because of the transmission. To not be proud of the beautiful, comfortable vehicle in my driveway because of a lousy transmission... This is not the kind of experience a new-car buyer should have. I'll never buy another GM vehicle again without shopping the competition.
