Fuel leaking from gas tank. Noticed a strong scent of gasoline, a few days later discovered a puddle of gasoline under car. All fuel lines appear O.K. gas tank is leaking from center of tank.

While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle will start to slow down while the gas pedal position is still the same, then speed back up, a few times the engine has died completely but has started right back up, a mechanic thinks it may be related to the gas tank and it's associated components, it could also possibly be related to the throttle linkages and control, consumer hears a cracking sound from the rear of the vehicle when the fuel tank is full.

Due to the design of the gas tank the consumer hit something on the road, causing a hole in the gas tank. Consumer feels some type of shield should be installed to protect the gas tank from being punctured or damaged from road debris.
