Basically, if I don't let my car warm up to a certain point, it won't shift into second. This ONLY occurs in cold weather. Any ideas on why it does this?

having a hard time getting gears to kick in. goes from first and speedometer drops to 0 then after awhile it will kick into next gear. runs worse in stop go traffic.
