- gm should provide an lcd readout of the engine check codes (2 reports)
I have had the engine check light come on twice in the past two weeks. First I was told that it was because of a bad Oxygen sensor. After having that fixed, the light comes on again a few days later and the mechanic says that it was a P0300 code, Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. They charged me to read out this damned code. Probably took 2 minutes if that.
In researching this on the web I found that the color of the idiot lights tell the driver whether it is an immediate problem or just a warning. Yellow means warning, red means immediate failure. This idiot hadn't known that. I did not see it in the owner's manual. GM should provide a readout of the codes in an LCD in the car and an explanation of the codes. The consumer should be able to know what the code is before seeing a mechanic. I think it would level the playign field for consumers.

Had car check and came up with a code P0300. Replace spark plugs, wires, catalytic converter, fuel injectors, coil pack and still not running correct. I spend $300 and problem is not fix. Don't know where to go from here.
