Well replacing ignition switch, arc tested coil, checked fuel pressure, alternator replaced, belt and pulley, leaves it down to wiring harness or cam position or crankshaft position sensor and my car throws up a code for MAP sensor what the heck never heard of a MAP sensor shutting a car down while driving heard they can make it stall but should start right back up no waiting period so since owning this car i go threw wheel bearings tierods all the time suspension is horrible not to include hazard switch which gm recalled but wouldn't cover on my car due to vin being off 7 numbers of their lil list, ive done nothing but pour money in this car steering rack went out that was a job!!! I use to be a chevy loyal driver wont even drive a friends car unless chevy but im going to toyota or honda and who was drunk when they put this car together every part has seven different size bolts holding it on half metric half not just frustrated

My 2000 Malibu which I purchased 2 weeks ago, was flawless until this day Mar30 2010. The engine shut off while driving on slight grade at 30 MPH. Of course the power steering is lost and the power brakes are lost. At first I didn't shut the key off, left it on and tried to restart , several times over 10 minutes without success. Then I turned the key off, and tried to restart, it started and ran perfect, and no warning lights. Drove it for 20 minutes, and the engine shut down again while going downhill at 50 MPH. Pulled over and stopped. Shut the key off they restarted perfect. Drove it for another 10 minutes , and the engine shut down again on level road at 40 MPH. Pulled over, turned ignition key off, and immediately started the car and drove it to the repair shop. It stayed there overnight. Next day he put it on diagnostics, everything was fine. He left it running outside with diagnostics attached for 2 hours, it ran fine. He test drove it and was fine. Any idea what can cause this problem and the fix??

Driving the car, it would just stall. It would do it with different levels of gas. However, just put in another gallon and the car would start again. It has gotten to the point where I will only travel 50 miles in distance and fill the tank so I will not stall. This is very annoying for a single mom of a two year old. Mechanics can find no fault with the car. It is very frustrating.

Car shuts off when driving. starts later. Why doesn't GM come to the table on problems like this that are truly safety hazards?

chevy sucks.. american cars suck...
i have been stalled on highway and different roads several times while driving this piece of sh*t.. it has been scary, dangerous and at the same time embarassement to drive this.. but what can you do when you living from paycheque to paycheque.. been putting up with the sh*t for some time..
then finally one day i am going to work and i sense the loss of speed again cause the damn thing is dying again... luckily i pull from one side of the road to the other .. i call the tow truck and take it to the garage...
after several visits it turned out to be faulty ignition switch...
