I just recently bought a 2001 Malibu for my daughter who just got her license. I drove it home from dealer for 45 minutes and everything was fine. Got it home, daughter was SO excited. The next morning she went out to start it and it would't start; she automatically started crying. I felt sick to my stomach.

Took it to the local dealer who fixed a minor problem we were having with turn signal but couldn't really figure out what was wrong with it. They thought it was one of 2 problems, so we went for the cheapest first. It cost me almost $1000 with parts and labor. It ran great for 2 days then started acting up again. My daughter, who looked this up on the internet, said we should go get the battery tested. We did, and the battery was down to 1 volt; we got a new battery. Seemed to help for another few days.

This morning she was getting ready to leave for school and after 4 times it wouldn't start. I had to have her take my car so she wasn't late. I eventually got it started and went to work. Hopefully it starts up today after work. I feel so sick, as my husband took money to pay for his stepdaughter's car, and now it's still not safe for her to drive. After reading these posts I think I'm going to cancel taking the car back in tomorrow. I don't feel it's safe for a 16 year old girl to be in a car that won't start...what if someone was after her or in another dangerous situation.

If someone else has any ideas how to get them to do a recall I would certainly want to be a part in that. I'm going to try the 10 minute trick this afternoon. What makes everything worse is that I'm almost to the point of being disable due to seizures and constant pain so I got the smoothest ride of car I could find, and now I have to drive my daughter's so she is safe. I hate this car.
