Well here we go again , for those who have the rack and pinion problem this is part two to the fix, If you have had it replaced and your horn and airbag light are on there is a componet within the column i believe at this time but when talk to the dealer on sept 24 2012 will get the info from them and complete this complaint. I am betting the entire steering column will have to be replaced and will find out tomorrow what the cost is. Problem is from other readings i have found there is a mechanism inside the column that gets destroyed when the rack breaks and your wheel is turned all the way around. I believe this is going to be the problem with the power steering light being on as well and will get all my own answers i am seeking and share here with all of you. This car has changed my feellings on general motors. This will be the last GM product i will own and only keeping it because have an engines for life special deal from my dealer when we bought the car. This complaint is to be continued till tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your time.

Update from Sep 29, 2012: As promised here is the finisher for this issue, I went to the dealer to get my safety and emissions done. Surprisingly we passed emissions but those airbag and no horn working failed us. I went over to the parts dept (noticed on line on another complaint on the 2004 malibu sight and found the clock spring info there) and asked them about this. The clock spring controls all features imbedded in your steering wheel so if your airbag light is on your horn don't work and your cruise control do'nt work this is why. They said it had been redesigned and would take two switches and the bracket as well as the spring to fix the issue. Cost for parts around $350.00. I said forget it as i will just find a column and replace everything. So total they wanted to charge me was $75 to check airbag light,$75 to check power steering light, and another $75 to check the horn. Then $350 for parts. Total $525.00 + tax so i didn't even ask about labor because i fix my own cars. I said thanks but no thanks and went to the junkyard and scored big. I got the entire column containing the clock spring and luckily the power steering unit. TOTAL COST $100!! I replaced the entire steering column which in turn fixed everything. I know i added other problems here but they are unified into the complete issue. I hope i have gave enough info here for anyone else with this trouble. If i need to add more just let me know or i will gladly revise this for others if needed. I hooked up the battery and started the car! No more chevy christmas lights the airbag light was off, and the horn worked as well as the replacement of the power steering unit turned off that dash light as well. Took me about 3 hours to do this, its tight under there but it worked.
