I've been having light problems for a while but one day I walked outside to get into my car and noticed that the blinker cover was melted and had fallen into my light cover. Now it moves around inside my cover. I had to replace my blinker light with a yellow one to keep from getting a ticket. There needs to be a recall on the lights of the Chevrolet Malibu. If there's not a recall please start one. I'm getting to the point that im almost afraid to drive the car for fear of a fire. Please please please get a recall going. I can't afford to keep buying lights for my car. Thank you

The headlights MELT! This, among other issues.

When I got the car, I discovered the first night I tried to drive, that out of all of the lights, exactly one of the high beams worked -- no low beams.

Not just the headlight housing melts! The terrible plastic connectors GM used melt a lot. Mostly the connectors.

What I resorted to doing is, I went on eBay and ordered some ceramic connectors, and went to Harbor Freight and got some wire crimps. I cut out all of the stock connectors, and either replaced w/ ceramic ones, just crimped the wires directly.

My drivers side turn signal still sometimes quits working. I've resorted to just punching the housing. This fixes it for a few weeks. WTF, GM?

I have replaced this headlight and the whole component thinking this will fix the problem, only to have the problem to continue. I think this should be on the recall list before someone car catch on fire and Chevy get sued.

I purchased this car from the dealer on May 19, 2007. 2 weeks later i took it back because the headlights went out. they replace the bulbs. Another 2 weeks go by and 1 headlight is out again. Again they replace it. I have been replacing these bulbs for 7 years. They say "No Recall". I got pulled over and was given a warning ticket because my headlight was out. I showed the officer my Bulbs I had just replaced along with the papers from the dealer where they replaced them. He still gave me the warning and said get it fixed. So I went to a mechanic and he said the bulb electrical switch was burnig the bulbs out. He wanted $200.00 to fix it and I did not have the $200.00. Now at night I drive with my bright lights on so I won't get a ticket. I see many other cars with the same prolems. Malibu's of course. Too many problems. Get all the papers and run a recall list before you buy a car.

I've been having to change signal bulbs in the past few years VERY often. Over 2 months ago, I had the entire (passenger side) assembly replace because the signal burned out completely. It burned the socket as well and a bulb couldn't be placed. I realized my signal had gone out again (this time the driver side). When I looked at it, the entire socket melted and dropped off. After noticing the driver side, the passenger side is starting to melt AGAIN!! This Not being able to signal can put someone in a hazardous situation. To me, this should be a recall!! I will not buy ANOTHER CHEVY!!

I love Chevy Malibu. The third one that I have purchased. My bulbs for my turning signal kept going out after it was replaced. One day I was about to get the bulb change when an individual recognized that the covering had been very hot and melted. First the driver side then the passengers side became defective. I took it to the dealership and they told me their never seen anything like it before. I didn't have a warranty so that made the situation worse. The dealer told me it would be over 200 dollars a piece to get before sides repaired and the repair wasn't guarantee. The problem can arrive again. The dealer replaced the bulbs but they went out in approximately three days of the replacement. This is a problem because the on coming cars cannot tell when I am turning and this can cause a serious accident.

WHEN I NOTICED BURNING ON HEADLIGHT TRIM, I CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE AN ASTOUNDING NUMBER OF 05 MALIBU'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT IS AWARE OF THIS, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL.

I DID FURTHER RESEARCH AND BELIEVE THESE ARE EAGLE EYE HEADLIGHTS. SUPPOSEDLY THEY ARE RECALLING HEADLIGHTS FROM A PREVIOUS MODEL.

BY THE TIME GM IS FINALLY FORCED TO DO A RECALL, IF I AM STILL ALIVE, I PROBABLY WILL NO LONGER OWN THE VEHICLE.

I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED AMERICAN CARS, MOSTLY GM'S FOR PATRIOTIC REASONS, BUT I HAVE HAD IT. MOST OF THE PARTS IN MY CAR DON'T EVEN ORIGINATE IN THIS COUNTRY.

I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVEN THINK THIS, BUT MY NEXT CAR WILL MOST LIKELY BE A TOYOTA, (I UNDERSTAND MOST OF TOYOTA PARTS ARE FROM US, SO THEY ARE PROBABLY MORE AMERICAN THAN GM.)

AS GM GOES, SO GOES THE NATION? GM IS ON IT'S WAY OUT DUE TO THEIR OWN GREED AND AVARICE. AND AS OF TODAY, IT LOOKS LIKE THE GOOD OLD USA IS NOT FAR BEHIND. SAD.
