Malibu LT V6

  • Automatic transmission

My car is stuck in 3rd gear. Can not shift it to any other gear, it is a pain in the butt. I can not shift down when going across a mountain.

problem #2

Malibu SLT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

Only 45k miles and lots of repairs, the new one is the shifter, no longer usable for low range, the switch stopped working which means in the ice covered roads of New England you will now have to rely on your anti lock brakes to slow you down, because you can no longer shift select thanks to more junk. Just another repair bill, just what you need during hard economic times, maybe if I got a stimulus package I could fix all the wrongs with my car and then declare bankruptcy and not have to pay it back. The way to go GM!! love ya man

problem #1

Dec 022008

Malibu Maxx LS 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,500 miles

Found out that GM saved pennies by using very thin and fragile wires about 1/8" too short, which subsequently break. Disrupts synchroinzation between engine speed, throttle position, and vehicle speed sensors resulting in erratic and harsh shifting and subsequent fuel economy loss.

Was told that this problem was common amongst those of us that live in hilly terrain and use gears other than Drive to help control vehicle speed going downhill. Pricey part not in stock, resulting in a two day long fix. Took to Saturn dealer in Santa Rosa, CA (since Saturn Aura is mechanically identical) and was treated very well.
