About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
While driving on city streets and highways the front wheels start to wobble and shake..after a while of driving the brakes seem to start braking and slowing down the car on its own..also you can smell a burnt or rubber smell from the wheels are brakes all occurs at the front of the car, very nerve wrecking. I'm scared to drive the vehicle on the highway due to this problem.

I currently have several mechanical issues with my 2005 Chevy Malibu as described in the NHTSA and manufacturer's recall numbers: NHTSA #09E012000; NHTSA #14V224000; NHTSA #11E009000; 10032206; 10019020; 10030685; and 10059101. The problems with the vehicle exist whether the car is stationary or in motion, however, they are most noticeable when driving.

As I was turning the corner the tire and rim completed disengaged or fell off causing me to make an emergency stop into a parking lot. The bolts had sheared off from the tire. We had the vehicle towed to a mechanics shop and found out the rod, rim, rotor and brakes were going to have to be replaced. The tire and rim had fell off before but we replaced the bolts which had sheared off.

The consumer rented a vehicle from alamo rental in orlando, fl at the airport. The consumer stated that without warning he was just driving at 35 mph and the vehicle jerked to the left. He said the steering wheel was not turned and he lost control and almost flipped over in the median where it also dismounted the front passenger tire from the rim. The consumer said the rear passenger tire was inserted about 6 inches like it was turned in towards the vehicle. Alamo was called and they offered to fix a flat but the consumer wanted a different vehicle because of safety reasons. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet. Caller feel this is a factory defect.
