Just bought this Chevy Malibu 1 week ago. Today the power steering light came on with 3 warning chimes while making a right turn. The wheel is loose when turning to the right but tight when turning right...there is popping sounds coming from the steering column as I turn. You can feel them in the steering wheel and the brake/gas. This is total crap. I called the dealership and all they said was " that's weird" <--- wth??? who says that to a serious safety issue? i have to bring my car in so they can "look at it " tomorrow. Ughhhh will never buy a chevy again!!!!!!!!!

this has been happening for a while now and at first I thought this was a power steering fluid problem, but come to find out that the problem may be something alot worse, after a quick search I found out that 1) I have an electric power steering, 2 that this problem is very consistent in this model. It scares me half to death because of the area I work in is hilly and has places where it can turn icy real fast which also causes my chance of getting into an accident alot higher. Hopefully something I read on here may help with my current problem.

3 We took the car back to get it check because the steering light keeps coming on. Now we need to replace the senor that will cost about 300.00 and we are not done.
Update from Jan 31, 2011: Only has 104,000km on this car.......Now have to replace steering wheel motion sensor....$300.00 for this Cars sucks but we will do what we have to do....Thanks
