When turning left or right or merging into traffic, the steering wheel clicks and gets very hard to steer like it's pulling to the side, causing me to overcorrect by steering in the opposite direction- it feels like I am going to lose control of the car and is very frightening but then it stops. It has happened several times over the years but is becoming more frequent. I have entered my VIN on the GM site but it says I am not a part of the recall. How is that possible when I am having the exact same problem" I am also having the problem with my brake lights- they go on when I am not braking and off when I do. I had to replace the gear shift last fall because it broke and my car would not stay in park. Is there anything I can do if I am not on the recall list" this is completely unsafe- I will never, ever buy a GM car again.

The following codes are active; P0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input, B0561 ABS $43 sys disabled and C0561 sys disabled issues. The fuel gauge was fluctuating, but has now stopped working. The service engine soon light came on and will not reset to off. The service seat belt warning message came on. The problems were intermittent prior to 50,000 miles, but now, just after 50,000 miles nothing resets. I have found that this is a common problem and the repairs are very expensive, yet nothing has been done to convince GM to recall and make repairs. We own a 2006 Malibu with 35,000 miles on it. Now, I'm worried that it is going to have the same problem as our 2007 Malibu. And, who wants to face those repair bills!

Mid-June, 2011:vehicle was making a roaring noise: The result was that the front wheel bearings were broken end of August 2011: Difficulty turning the steering wheel accompanied by a loud grinding sound, the result was that the steering shaft and outer tie rod were broken and had to be replaced. September 2011: Extreme difficulty applying brakes, on occasion would appear normal. Had 3 brake inspections done within a week and a half period. When brakes no longer would operate, tit was determined that the master cylinder needed to be replaced.4.

I have a 2007 Chevy Malibu. I bought the car 2 1/2 yrs. Ago. It had 12,000 miles on it at the time. We were told at 33,000 miles that it needed a new steering gear, which we did, then at 35,000 miles a strut was replaced, then in 2009 another steering gear was put in and also a few months later it was yet again doing the same thing so they greased it..... now they say we need a steering shaft put in.....GM should recall all these vehicles.....I for one am filing a complaint with the BBB and will never own a GM product again....I as well, will do my best to deter anyone I know from owning a GM product!

When applied right front brake locked up and left skid mark 4 feet long, no other brake wheel left any skid mark. It skidded with my wife when she had to slam on brakes on November 15th 2008 around 7:45pm it slid side ways almost causing a terrible wreck. It was on dry pavement she was traveling around 52-54 mph, it did this before with me driving I almost hit a sport utility vehicle who pulled out of a driveway in front of my path. The dealer checked it but said the computer showed nothing wrong with the brakes.

I was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu undercover police car. I was chasing an armed robbery suspect and was driving 53 mph according to the accident investigation. I left solid dark black skid marks for over a hundred feet prior to my impact. The anti-lock brakes failed and there was no discernible difference between the vehicle I was driving an one not equipped with anti-lock brakes. After about eighty feet of solid skid and no steering control, I was forced to release the brake peddle slightly to gain steering so I would not strike the car in front of me squarely on the drivers door, possibly killing the elderly driver, who ran a stop sign in front of me. I was knocked unconscious and air lifted to the hospital due to my injuries.
