Malibu LS 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

same problems as other mention, dealer wanted about 1500 $ to fix and part was over 1000$. I can understand that things break but GM is overcharging for this repair because no 3rd party can do the work. Many calls to GM yield no movement on the price. Problems seems to be related to moisture, happened when seat get wet or high humidity/ rainy days

The airbag light came on several times over the past couple of years, always going off again, sometimes within minutes. I had been told I'd have to get to a dealership fairly soon after the light was on to have the codes read, it was never convenient so I ignored it. Last week it came on 3 times in one day and stayed on for about an hour. I brought it in, they said it needs a pps (something about the passenger front seat) for about $1200. Are you kidding me? No bags have ever deployed, but I have to spend a small fortune on them? Oh yeah, my all inclusive expensive extended warranty from Century excludes airbag systems in the fine print.

Malibu ES 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,000 miles

When we were driving the passenger side air bag light would turn on and the radio display would indicate a problem with the passenger side air bag. We took it to the dealer and since it was not on yet they would not look at it. After numerous attempts we finally made it to the dealership with the light on and they said it was a bad seat sensor. They changed the sensor but now it has started again. I will now have to start the process over again.

Malibu LTZ V6 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission

Airbag light is on, according to the dealer the passenger occupancy sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. Apparently these things just go bad for no apparent reason. They told me it would cost about $800 to fix it!!!!! How about have GM fix their flaws!!!

First of all, I'd like to say that the general policy of these stupid TSB things is retarded. Not mentally challenged, or "special" or any of that 'good' kind of retarded. I mean down right dumb for no good reason retarded. I found thousands of websites that are aware of the issue, but nobody in forums or otherwise that seems to want to share their knowledge of how to remove the annoying little bastard. All I want to know is am I going to be denied on my next inspection because of some ghost problem with the air bag light? What's worse is the message that displays in the stereo. Granted, I could get rid of that by getting an after market stereo in there, but that damned light still raises questions. I'm about to tear open my dash board and remove the bulb. It's not like I need a f*cking air bag anyway. My parents got along fine without them. Hell, they didn't even need seat belts back then, and now I'm being told I could get a ticket for not wearing one in the back seat too. Who's gonna give me this ticket anyway? The police are dangerously understaffed in and around Houston as it is. If they are really out there wasting all that tax payer money looking for people not wearing seat belts in the back seats of every car on the road, then who is catching the real criminals!?! What, are they going to throw me in jail too after I refuse to pay for the damned thing? Are the prisons going to be full of back seat drivers? They can put me in there right next to the pot smokers that already have the place full to capacity.

Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, the airbag light thing. It seems to only happen when its getting hot outside, or when it's cold but never when the temperature is between 50 and 80. Today it just started again it was in the mid 90s outside. It started when I started the car. I turned the air conditioning on, and the light went away almost as soon as it cooled off. Then I got on the freeway and it came back on. I got off the freeway, and it turned off as soon as I came to a stop light. It stayed off for the next few lights but then came on again when I floored the gas to get around this moron who stopped at a green light with no one in front of him. You know I think they ought to give everyone an IQ test before allowing them to even take the driving test. It's these same idiots that are the ones who make sure we have laws like 15 MPH in a school zone, and wearing damned seatbelts which were designed for children when we have to squeeze into an already uncomfortable back seat of a car. And don't even get me started on those red light cameras. It's the people who came up with that idea who are the idiots here. I mean how hard is it to add a couple of extra seconds to a yellow light to give someone travelling at the posted speed limit enough time to safely stop before having their picture taken. Thats why I make sure my middle finger is to the sky every time I have to go through on yellow. I hope they can see it, I'm doing it as HARD as I can!
