I purchased a used 2008 Malibu in Sept. 2011. Within a few months, I encountered the problem of not being able to take the key out of the ignition when the car is in park. After going back and forth between park and drive about 20 - 30 times, I could get the key out. This is an intermittent problem and I thought it was really not a problem. This issue happen again and again. I took the car to the local dealer in May, 2012 and told them of this problem (along with some other issues). I was told they could not duplicate the problem and the vehicle was operating as designed. Today is July 6 and I have the same problem. My vehicle is sitting in my garage and I cannot get the key out of the ignition. I called the dealer again and was told to bring the car in however I could not get to the dealer (at this short notice) but I could bring it in on Monday. This is really frustrating because I told the dealer of the problem and I don't believe they investigated it thoroughly.

THE LOCKSMITH TOLD ME THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH SOME SATURN AND PONTIACS. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT I WAS HIS 5TH CASE IN ONE MONTH. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO A RECALL. SOUND LIKE GM TRIED TO GO TO A CHEAPER SUPPLY FOR THE IGNITION SWITCHES AND THIS IS THE RESULTS OF THE THEM SAVING MONEY. I AM A LOYAL GM BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
