This car must have been designed by those in a warm climate and have a garage, because living in the country my rear window cannot thaw off therefore it just builds up with ice until I have a small skating rink on the trunk. Getting the ice off is a real pain and I am always scared it will damage the vehicle. Very, very poor design, even worse, this problem was not corrected on newer models.

Malibu has a very poor design.... in winter the trunk always freezes shut. It from the rear window melting the snow & it running down the window, stops at the trunk & freezes again... trunk is frozen shut. Also, blowing snow accumulates on top of the trunk & then freezes. You can NOT open this trunk until it melts some. Only way in is to completely melt the ice or try and get in through the rear seats. A real pain!! !
