It's horrible and GM really needs to do another recall on the POWER STEERING on 2008 Chevy Malibu LT. It's very dangerous driving like that. They need to fix the problem.

I was doing a research and I know I am the only one with this problem. the steering wheel start shaking for not reason and the solution is to change the steering column module for the amount of people with similar problem it should be a recall from GMC.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS there is not a RECALL! I researched online and there were TONS of complaints about this SAME PROBLEM with the same model, year and make of vehicle!! This is ridiculous. I can't afford to keep fixing this vehicle but it must be done as it is used to work as a company car!! PLEASE RECALL

Malibu LS 2.0L

Started as just a shimmy at first. Then increasingly got worse. Happens almost every day, except the day you bring it to the garage. I'm curious of there has been any accidents for this problem. Steering wheel pulls right out of your grip. I'm surprised I haven't been pulled over for DUI. I won't get another Chevy car.

I am very upset about the troubles that i am having with my 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. I just purchased this vehicle last year March, 2012 so i barley had the car for a year then out of no where the steering wheel starts shaking sided to side so i thought it maybe needed breaks and rotors so i dropped of to an auto mechanic to get fixed. My car was reviewed come to find out i didn't need brakes or rotors my steering torque sensor needed replaced. For some reason mechanics are under the impression that there was a recall for this i called Gm customer service and also 3 chevy dealerships that told me there was no recall on this what so ever. and you would think that there would be. I have 3 small children that i am transporting in the back of this vehilcle and when im trying to steer my car a certain way it took me the opposite or it would lock up when i start the car or if im driving it would lock up when i switch lanes or when i make a turn onto a busy intersection. God i pray anyone experiencing this issue is safely wrapped under your wings because there are several complaints regarding this and GM is not doing anything about it This is just sad. A Gm rep told me ... Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news but ou need to pay out of pocket to get it fixed! " this is sad just sad is all i can say

Shuddering in steering when going slow and turning to the right, such as entering or leaving a parking stall. Dealer said power steering hoses were touching, they repositioned them. No help. Next trip to dealer they had the car for 3 days. Said the engine was running rough so they drove it hard to remove carbon. I then decided I didn't want these Chevy Techs working on my car. Took it to another Chevy dealer. They checked axles, engine mounts and replaced the steering gear after I waited 7 weeks for the parts for a Chevy made right here in the USA. Still no help. Vehicle now has 17,200 miles. The dealer does not know what to do to fix it. They put it on an analyzer which shows everything is normal.

I called GM and got a telephone rep in the PHILLIPINES so that started my anger to rise even more....They refused to give me a copy of my complaint ( my proof ). I was told that at my expense, I have to bring it for a GM diagnosis.......and call them back with my reference number pertaining to my original call............they can't do anything until i get it documented with a GM dealer. I tried to explain that when I start my car my steering wheel shimmies, before I do anything! Then the POWER STEERING message pops up and the bell rings on my console...........If I turn the car off, and restart soemtimes it doesn't do it. I called a Chevy dealer and he told me it sounds like the Electronic Motor for Power Steering. $$$$$$ Is all I hear. I lost my job a year ago and have no money.

How can they not call for a recall on the Malibu when so many complain about the Malibu and this problem? The Cobalt was just recalled for this exact problem......I think it's because of the mess Toyota is just coming out of. While everyone was afraid to buy Toyota, they switched to the Malibu which is suppose to be comparable.....now we are all suffering at our own expense. Please someone if there is anything that can be done to bring this out into the public eye in a big way DO IT!!!!
