Malibu Clasic 4cyc

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,000 miles

Junk, Junk, Junk! This is just one of the 5 steering/suspension parts that were replaced several times in the first 1 1/2 year and over 14 trips to the dealer for repair - problems continue with out any resolve.... GM's warranty and extended warranty is not worth the paper printed on. Now at 50,000 miles it needs front ball joints and rear struts, per the dealer, but GM ststes " there is nothing wrong with the ball joints or struts and GM will not cover any repairs". Power steering vibrates left and right frequently when car is started and at ties while driving! The power steering motor and steering column have been replaced once, GM not doing it again. A GM Customer Assistance Rep admitted that GM has problems with the Malibu. Consequently, they gave me an extended warranty; too bad it does not cover the problems because GM is now Stating when the dealer calls for repair authorization " there is no problem whit the car". DON'T Buy one! I have just traded this one after waiting 5 weeks of for GM's zone manager's to deny the repair - even with the extended warranty in writing! It is a real shame that my and your tax dollar went to bail out GM. This vehicle just squeaks, bangs and creeks as it goes down the road waiting for one of the front ball joints to fail. May GM fail.

Malibu LTZ 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,500 miles

I was told that i had excessive carbon build up in my fuel system. What this has to do with the steering wheel shaking, I have no idea. The car idles fine and the car has no problem with gas mileage or acceleration. The technical adviser did get defensive when I mentioned that GM Corporate had sent me to this dealer for an evaluation of the problem. The problem happened two times in the last few weeks. Once in the driveway and once pulling out into traffce turning right. It is a strange feeling. No problem going straight or banking into a merge. I am to receive a call within the next 36 hour to discuss what the dealer can do for me and thereby, GM. I do have my concerns about the dealer's service department since they think the steering is attached to the fuel intake system. How cars have changed over the last 40 years.

Malibu LTZ V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

I've had this problem "fixed" several times only for it to work for a few months then needs to be addressed again. Now my vehicle is out of warranty, that is except for the repaired part. I'm concerned that this car will completely fall apart.

Malibu LTZ V6

  • Automatic transmission

2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ, returned to dealer where I purchased new because the steering wheel shuddered when turning to the right from a stand still. They told me the power steering hoses were touching, they repositioned them which did not help. Returned to dealer again. This time they had it for 3 days. Told me that the engine was running rough so they took it out on the highway and drove it hard. I then decided that I did not want these Chevy technicians touching my car. Took it to another Chevy dealer. They replaced the steering gear (after waiting 7 weeks for the parts) which did not help. No shuddering while driving on the highway or turning corners in town, only while going slow such as entering or leaving a parking stall. Vehicle now has 17000 miles on it.
