Check engine light will not clear after replacing the Cam Position Actuator. There are no readings on the computer but the engine continues to go on and off. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I replaced the camshaft actuator solenoid myself for $48.

Check engine light with P0013 code on scan tool is an exhaust camshaft sensor failure. The problem occurs so frequently that multiple web sites had instructions to replace the sensor! Took about an hour (self repaired) and the sensor was $50.

The engine light will go on and off with the code remaining the same. I need to take it into the shop to verify that it is the sensor.
