There's a TSB out for this problem and Chevy was fixing it free of charge. Now they're not! What the hell!? How can Chevy be willing to fix the problem and then change they're policy and fight everybody that tries to get this problem fixed? A local dealer took a sample of my transmission fluid and sent it to GM to be tested. This test is able to determine how much metal is in the fluid. My sample indicated that there is metal in the fluid and with the problems that I'm experiencing, I SHOULD be getting my transmission fixed or replaced at no cost! FU GM!!!!! I don't think I will ever buy another GM product ever again. It sucks too, because I was hoping to trade my 06 Avalanche in soon for a new Z71 extended or double cab. I might have to go back to Ford or maybe even consider a Dodge.

I own a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. I purchased it New off the lot in April of 2009. In Dec 2014 with only 60,000 miles and 5 1/2 years old, my Transmission started doing a hard knocking/bucking when it was shifting. I took it to my local Automotive and since the check engine light did not come on they couldn't tell me the problem. Then 30 days later while driving down the road my transmission completely went out. Luckily no one was behind me. It was Towed to our Dealership. Keep in mind that I am very diligent about having my oil changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles. I was told it was out of warranty and that no recalls had been placed on the transmission. So after several thousand dollars out of pocket the transmission was replaced. Now 4 months later it is doing the same hard shift again but this time the engine light came on. I am so frustrated with this vehicle!! I will never buy another Chevy again! Come to find out my pastors wife had to have her transmission replaced in her Malibu as well. Looks like they still can't get it right.

Chevy rebuilt transmission at 60000 miles. since then i have had problems with the transmission sticking. I will stop at a light and when the light turns i excellarate it will not go at first. then pops in to gear and and almost hit the cars in front of me. Sometimes it happens when i go to leave the house as i back out. it will not pop into reverse.
we have taken the car back in 6 - 8 times each time they do a little something and say there its fixed. and it never is!!
I will never own another chevy.

I had my trans rebuilt March 2017 and have had the continuous problems from then til now. I have taken it in many times under the rebuilt warranty and they said they can't find anything wrong with it because there are no codes to be read, no computer history and no service engine light on. The same dealership that rebuilt the trans last year, just said I needed a brand new one, so I paid $4000! I picked my Malibu up on a Friday and the next afternoon (not even 24 hours later) the car is doing the exact same thing!! I took it back there and it's there currently, but they can't get it to replicate the problem because it doesn't happen all the time. Things is does: stalls at intersections, sputters while driving, jerking and jolting while trying to accelerate, accelerates to around 40 and the RPM's jump between 4000-6000
