Malibu LS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,808 miles

Door lock switch on either door doesn't work, nor does my vehicle unlock with the key fob, and the mirror adjustment switch is no longer working either. What do I do? Other that checking fuses, I don't even know where to start.

Malibu LT 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,834 miles

A few months ago the passenger door would not open, the locks would not disengage. My wife cycled the locks manually multiple times and it finally opened. At the time we didn't think much about it. Last month I brought my vehicle in for another recall and advised them of this issue. They informed me it was the door actuator and needed to be replaced at a cost of $600.00 for the one door. I could not have it fixed at the time.

Also I had just purchased this car in January of 2014 with 27900 miles on it. Since this time there have been three instances of the passenger being trapped as the door will not unlock. Right now it will not unlock at all. This is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into. This issue can become very serious if fire is involved. After searching the internet for parts for this repair I could not believe the number of issues others are having. This repair should not be the responsibility of the owner.

Malibu LX 4 cyl 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,200 miles

Over the last 6 months, three of the four door locks have stopped working. I took it to the dealer to fix it after 2 went bad and they wanted $300 for each door. RIDICULOUS! I have just been reaching over to the passenger door and my daughter reaching over the driver side to passenger side in the back seat. Now that the rear passenger has gone bad as well, looks like I'll have to pay up. I'm looking for generic parts and will avoid the dealer at all costs. I tried to do my part by supporting GM. This and other little problems unfortunately prevent me from making that mistake again.

I had to crawl over the arm of the front seat to get out. The part had to be ordered and I had to do this everytime I got in the car for 3 days waiting for the part. The repairman said the internal door lock inside the drivers side door fell apart
