Malibu LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 71,000 miles

My 2012 Chevy Malibu LT 2.4L 71,700 ml. A/C only works when the outside temp. is 70-80F, above that sometimes its works, sometime don't. It's maybe the 2 fan's at the radiator blowing the wires and they connectors? But now after 1 month notice a noise made by the compressor.

I have done research on on the AC and the AC cable issue. There should be a recall on the issue. This is an ongoing issue with the same year, make and model.

On most vehicles the and air conditioner will not give till about 100k miles. I have a 2004 Honda Civic with about 164k miles on it and my AC cable and blower motor is still going strong.

Chevy should be ashamed of themselves for putting out a product of this quality. At 64k miles the AC cable melted and fused together. This caused the AC blower motor to literally melt because it is completely made of plastic.

In four years of having the Malibu. I have put out the same amount of cash as I have for my Honda Civic. RECALL IT! For the love of God! Take pride in the product you are asking for you fellow Americans to support American products!

Malibu LS V4

  • Automatic transmission

On the right side of the engine there is a u shaped holder that is part of the engine that holds the engine cable harness. Because of the engine vibration the U shape (aluminum) holder cut the flex protection and scuffed the A/C electrical cable causing short- circuit. Putting the the engine harness between the engine and the cooling fan is a very bad idea.

It is the middle of summer and my air conditioning has quit working. I have a 3 year old car that I paid $25,000 for and I do not have air conditioning...I am not sure what the problem is but I definitely should not have to deal with this. It never made a noise or gave me a warning, it just quit working out of the blue.
