The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 30 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (transwest Chevrolet Buick, 1200 w main St, sterling, co, 80751) where it was diagnosed that the speed sensor and rear passenger wheel hub failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 8-3108717924. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the drive train warranty and that the bumper to bumper warranty had expired. The manufacturer informed the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 69,900.
