Malibu ECO V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,699 miles

On the way home today my electrical system started failing but the worst part was when the ABS light came on, the battery light came on and then the power steering failed causing me to have to fight the car back home. I had to use both hands with all my might to turn the car onto my street and into my driveway. I'm very fortunate. Then my electrical system just failed completely in my driveway and won't even start now. Tow truck tomorrow and to the Chevy dealer for check-out!!

Malibu LS 2.5L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,476 miles

This is related to another common problem under electrical. The power steering will almost lock the wheel while driving at high speed which is very scary. It happens at the same time generally when the electrical system is flicking on and off. I also think that this should be definitely considered a recall so that the consumer isn't stuck will the bill they don't deserve to be due to the sheer number of complaints and peoples concern for their and others safety.

Power steering failure...REALLY! I've been reading all about this on other complaints and I'm truly amazed! I started with check engine light coming on and staying on for about 4 months with no codes being shown for it. Finally got that fixed...and now this! I paid way too much money for this car (bought almost brand new) to be constantly dealing with manufacturing problems! My kids ride in this car for GOD'S SAKE! And then I read that Chevrolet knows about this problem but still hasn't sent out a recall!! WTH!!!

Malibu LS 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,588 miles

I purchased the 2013 Malibu new, and at 8,000 miles started experiencing weird issues, all electrical. The power steering service power steering message showed up in the dash. Took it to the dealer and they checked for a code, and found none. Said it may have been a electrical short. Long story short, three years later, it has progressed to locking up twice while driving at 50+ mph. It locks up where you can't steer the car - like the power on it died. Took it to the dealer and again, no code! It happens more and more frequently now, and I'm afraid to drive the car as the last time it did it, I ran off the road in the curve of a road. It busted my radiator, and damaged my underside near the passenger side front door. Luckily I wasn't hurt, but it has caused me to be afraid of the car. Filed a complaint for the third time with Chevrolet Corporate and today they denied my claim for a defective product - reason - no code and unable to duplicate. The service manager has seen the warning light, and the other lights on, and in fact had just repaired the car for the same issue less than two weeks earlier. When I asked if it was a wiring issue or computer issue they said unless it throws a code - they can't fix it. So my question is this - does someone have to die before you address this issue Chevrolet?
