My 2015 Chevy Malibu is burning oil. About a quart a month. No one seems to know why. Car runs OK, and no engine light. I am worried about the piston rings being bad. Took it to a private mechanic and he found nothing wrong. It's not leaking. It's burning oil. Any suggestions?

Between oil changes, needs over a quart of oil. Car sometimes sputters and loses power. No visible signs of leaks. Exhausts are completely black.

Oil vacuum pump broke shattered and metal pieces went in the engine. At this moment I don’t know if the mother is hurt. The shop fixing it said they can’t promise how long it will last. They ordered the part cleaned out the motor into oil pan. Clean the pan out and is putting back together. With parts and labor between 1000 to 1200 dollars to fix and not Guaranteed the motor doesn’t need to be replaced.
