Malibu LS 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,500 miles

Car was maintained well and the transmission failed far too early. Won't be bothering with GM anymore.

Malibu

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

Check engine light came on, so I went to have it checked but went off. I was told to bring it back when the light was on. Light came back on, then went off again, and I had loss of power. The engine was running at high RPM at low speeds, and would not shift. Turn car off, turn back on - it would run fine with no check engine light. Finally got the to the mechanic when the light was on and he said the damage was extensive, the transmission would have to be replaced or rebuilt.

Malibu LT2 Ecotec 2.5L Dohc I

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I’ve been having an issue with my transmission in Malibu 2015. It started messing up in 2018 and it took Chevy 6 months to fix which was Feb 2019. I took it back a year later 2020 - it was rebuilt again then took it back 2 months later and it was rebuilt again. Now it’s in the shop for the fourth time been there since 3/22/21. They just called me yesterday stating it will cost me over 4,000. I’m totally done with Chevy - my last 3 cars have been Chevy but the way they handle customer service is not right.

Malibu LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,666 miles

I left for work, stopped to get coffee. Got back in the car crank it, put the car in reverse, the car didn't move. All I heard was the engine, put the gear in drive and the car went backwards, The light came on the error message was Power Steering, please drive careful. I hit the onstar button and had them diagnose my car, The operator began reading off the codes, every code started with transmission, My car had just come from service a few weeks prior. Had the car towed and was told a few days later that I needed a whole new transmission system. I was pissed cause my vehicle has on 36,666 miles and I need a transmission. Really don't know what to think at this point... Chevy has put a bad taste in my mouth right now
