The auto-stop, from the very beginning, was "different." I noticed the vehicle bucking when it would auto shift into a different gear while driving.
Then, only a week after purchasing it from the lot, I went to make a three-point turn. I made the turn, then went to shift into REVERSE, and it would not budge. I looked down at the gear shift and then at the dash to ensure I was in R (reverse) and it was. I attempted to put it into drive, to which it would only rev up. I put the vehicle in park, turned it off and took the key out.
At this point, I'm still sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of the dang street, where, if someone were traveling too fast and/or not paying attention, they would crash right into me.
I turn the car back on, shift into R, nothing, but revs up.
I shift into D, nothing, but revs up.
I have to call my husband and ask if he can help me push it. The street is thankfully empty at that point.
I have a two minute conversation with him, in the mean time, I'm trying to get the vehicle to do ANYTHING to get it out of the middle of the street. Finally, at the tail end of the conversation, the vehicle moves slightly while in DRIVE. I shift to R and after a little revving up, it bucks very, very hard and goes into REVERSE, but I have to brake because I wasn't expecting that and wasn't sure if there was a car speeding by.
After this, the auto-stop doesn't engage (at all) for the thirty minute drive to the dealership where I purchased it.
The dealership, Dodge, sublets it to the GMC down the street that also works on Chevy. From 12/29-1/2, GMC had my car and on 1/2 they give it back to my dealership with the notes that the vehicle works as designed, that auto-stop is now working, but that the A/C was on the wrong setting. They did no work to the vehicle.
My dealership, not happy with this, takes it to a local Chevy. They rec'd it and today I just got a call that the "transmission department" won't even take a look at it until next Tuesday, 1/9/18.
I'm so unhappy with this entire process. I can't believe there was an inference made that the car wouldn't reverse because the A/C wasn't on the right setting. BTW, in the desert, what's the "right" setting? It's cold in the morning then hot in the afternoon. I'm in a rental in the meantime, but now I have to wait to see what they, if anything, diagnose it with.
I'm worried. I've never been stuck in the middle of the street, unable to go anywhere, let alone in a two-year old car, because it wouldn't go in reverse or drive.
