Malibu Classic

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,500 miles

Bought this 2005 Chevy Malibu Classic used as is from a Local WELL known dealer and on 2 times of test driving the car never had a problem starting and driving it, so we bought it. On the 3rd day of owning it took it into town to get new tires put on it only to find out they could not get car started to put new tires on it.

Had it towed home, called dealer and his comment it was a AS IS car, can't help ya! Have owned car and paid on it since Nov. of 2014 and here we are in April 2015 and I have put a total of 40 miles on it. Not to mention to find out it has a recall on ignition switch and I can't even take it to get fixed cause IT WON'T START!!!!!! Not sure if a dealer can legally sell a car knowing it had a recall and not fixing it, As Is or not??????????

When you try to start it the gas gauge flickers up and down and the lights on dash flicker off and on and the door locks lock, unlock, lock, unlock.................. and NO START!!! NOW WHAT GM?????????????? Need more Bail Money? ME TOO. I'M PAYING FOR ONE OF YOUR PIECES THAT DOESN'T RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Car would crank but not start. Saw anti theft light flashing. Finally got to this net site. Guy who said turn key to accessory position for 10 minutes and then turn off and wait 10 seconds to start gets the cookie. Also cleaned the fuses under the hood as someone suggested might be a permanent fix. Will see on that. Note: some people say on position for key, didn't work for me--do the accessory key position. Note to some: Classic model is the same as a Malibu. Wow, hundred $$ problem fixed for a couple of beers.

Malibu Classic V4

  • Automatic transmission

Thankfully several others posted the solution to this problem which apparently Chevy does not acknowledge as happening for no reason. The car started fine two minutes before. I filled up with gas, turned the key, and the car wouldn't start. I pushed it into stall and thankfully found this website. This morning I tried the 10 minutes in the "on" position. The Theft light stopped flashing after 10 minutes. I turned the key to "off", then it started right up. Had others not already experienced this and shared their knowledge, I would have really been screwed.

The Chevy Classic is the former Chevy Malibu. Apparently they changed the model midyear in 2004 or 2005.
