Malibu Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

I had recently driven the car from our summer home in CO to Mesquite NV (800+ mi.) and I started having the same problem of the car not turning off even though it was in park. Getting it into a Chevy dealership was more than a 3 week wait. Took it locally where they promised to turn it off if I couldn't when I got there. They kept it for a week. In the meantime I was afraid to drive it anywhere for fear of being unable to turn it off and lock it. I basically had no transportation for three weeks.

Husband drove car into garage and thought it was turned off. I had gotten out of car earlier. Several days later, I went to use car and battery was dead. Had to get car towed 40+ miles to Chevrolet dealer. While it was still under warrantee, there was no charge. I blamed husband for being careless in neglecting to turn off vehicle. We waited more than two days for a tow truck. The dealer charged battery and indicated all was fine with car. This was my first episode of failure to turn off when in park.
