Monte Carlo SS 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 136,702 miles

I noticed my belt started squealing one day, so I opened the hood and there was a perfectly straight grease line on the back firewall and across the hood. Further inspection revealed that the passenger side cv boot (constant velocity) tore, throwing grease everywhere. The boot was cheap, but the labor was expensive as the entire shaft assembly needs to be removed to replace the boot.
