About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
For a couple of years when I turn on my turn signals and leave on while waiting at a red light they will quit working all together. I have learned to turn them on and show what I am going to do then turn them off until the light changes and turn them on again to show which way I am turning. After I have stopped and restarted the car they start working again. It is dangerous if you forget to do the process I mentioned above because you can't signal to change lanes or anything if you are in the wrong lane and need to get over and stop and restart the car.

On-going turn signal failure. Turn signal intermittently functions and almost resulted in rear end collision and/or side impact. Infrequently operation of hazard signal while engaging left or right turn signal mitigated problem, but did not fix. To repair had to replace hazard/turn signal flasher at a cost of $107. From review of Monte Carlo forums this is a known safety hazard that effects Monte carlos as well as other vehicles that used the hazard/turn signal flasher switch P/N 924-606 and should be remedied by GM through recall/reimbursement.
