I have a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo with 56,000 miles on it. It has been nothing but trouble. Have had alot of repairs on it. Now it has a popping noise in the steering column, and loud front end noise. I was told the steering column problem had a recall on it, because one of my friends Chevy Impala had the same problem and theirs was fixed under recall. I contacted Chevrolet, they said there was no recall on my Monte Carlo. Seems if thre is a defective part on this model, GM should replace it with no charge.also, the frontend has had a very loud roar in it since we purchased it used with 12,000 miles on it. We replaced the tires, which did not help, and I was told the front hubs had defective bearings which did not have enough grease and could not be greased. My friend replaced the front hubs on their Chevy Impala with improved hubs and corrected the problem. I have had numerous electrical problems with this car, including the electric windows repaired four times, starter, altenator, turn signals and hazard flashers, paint, the car is supposed to be black, instead it's black and white polka dot. I believe this car should be declared a lemon under the lemon law. I have put way to much money into this car with just 56,000 miles on it. I would appreciate your help on my problems with this car, as I believe there should be a recall on the front hubs and the problem in the steering column. I can't afford to keep spending money on this car, I just keep throwing good money after bad.I think GM should repair these problems at no charge. Thank you very much for your time.

When backing up and turning the wheel or going forward and turning the wheel, there is a clunking noise coming from the front end. I've had a garage check the front end and they can't find anything loose. As a precaution I've changed tierods, hub assemblies and bushing, still can't find the problem.

The axle broke while driving at 70 mph. Driver was not able to control the vehicle. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for analysis, and mechanic replaced a main bolt attachment to the suspension because it sheared off.

I too, like all the others have experienced major front end problems with this car. It's always vibrated and I've always heard "noises." The dealer did try to rectify this situation by replacing my rack and pinion and replacing my tie rod ends, because both of my front tires were about to fall off. I've extremely scared to put my children in this car, but have no choice. Now, as of today my emergency brake light and "trac off" light stay on constantly. So there is just one more problem to add to the list of things that have gone wrong with only 48,000 miles. I've been experiencing problems since I purchased the car.

I have had a vibration in the front of the vehicle from the day I purchased it. I have had it back to the dealer and they can't find the problem. I have had tire's replaced, the rotor's replaced, had tires balanced numerous times and am still having problem's. I have contacted GM about the problem and they keep ignoring my request to have the vehicle repaired or replaced.

We have had this problem since the car was approx. 6 months old. The engine cradle has been changed and the problem has returned. It has been to the service dept. 4 times and they just keep us on a waiting list. The problem is in the steering. When you turn the steering wheel to the left or right, you get a banging or loud creaking noise. We have been told it is safe to drive, but it seems to be getting worse and we are fearful something is going to let go while we are driving. We are very satisfied with the car other then this problem...I hope you can give us some kind of advise or answer to our problem, because the dealer sure has not.
