This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
When you are stopped at a light and accelerate the car jerks quite badly, worse on a hill and worse on harder acceleration. Can almost avoid when you accelerate VERY gently unless the hill is steep. Concerned it is an expensive tranny issue.

CAR HITCHES WHEN GOING UP HILLS WHEN NOT INCREASING SPEED, LIKE ON CRUISE BUT NOT NECESSARILY. ON THE LEVEL IT WORKS FINE. NO ONE KNOWS WHY YET. IF THEY CHANGED EVERYTHING THEY SAY IT COULD BE, IT WOULD COST THOUSANDS.

@ around 30k miles, and 2.5 years I noticed a missing shift point around 40mph, and didn't know at the time what was going on.
After taking it to the dealer, they either could not notice it, figure it out, or understand my complaint.
It was getting worst, and I was getting annoyed. I didn't give up. I found on the nhtsa website a service bulletin for a defective solenoid for the lockup torque converter. That was all the information I needed.
I took the TSB listing to the dealer, and asked them to fix it.
They gave me a rental, and 2 days later it was finally fixed. It took 2 trips to the dealer at the time. I don't blame the dealer. I suspect it was a relatively new issue at the time and GM hadn't debugged it properly.
Anyway, since the new solenoid was installed, no more issues. The vehicle now has 110K miles with no further transmission issues.
If it's shifting poorly, especially up hill, or poor gas mileage, check the torque converter solenoid. It's no big deal... and inexpensive it out of warranty.
