Transmission skips gears from a stop to go acceleration. Took my vehicle to a Chevrolet ase certified repair facility to have checked. The clutch plate was melted along with some planetary bearings destroyed. The repair bill came to $1,800 $. now the vehicle is showing signs of a recurring slippage problem only after 2 months since it was repaired and used parts replaced. Why isn't there a recall for this issue? my 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ss less than 72,000 miles on it.

From a stopped point the transmission slips upon acceleration causing the car to make a loud clunking noise and then jerk and bark the tires until the car goes into gear almost causing me to be rear ended each time.

I was at a red light and the light turned green and I pressed on the accelerator and the engine revved way up but I did not go anywhere, and then kind of clunk and it seemed to have popped in gear. The amount of torque that was delivered to the wheels caused me to veer into the lane next to me that had already began to move. A semi truck almost hit me!

I hear from someone that you may be able to help! below is a blog I made to the Monte Carlo forum site. Please read to get an idea of what my complaints are. I own a 2007 Monte Carlo ss. I have been to Chevy 6 times under warranty for this transmission issue. Each time they told me they did not find any error codes or problems on the test drives. I find this hard to believe. My transmission shifts hard at times like it is missing. This slipping / hard shifting is a safety hazard for getting on to parkways and needing to respond quickly to certain situations. All seems to be happening in first gear. I brought the car back to them about 2 months ago (out of warranty) for an engine burning oil issue which by the way I also brought to their attention 5 times under warranty. Which all of a sudden (you guessed it) they admitted the engine was burning oil and I wound up having to pay $1000 to tare down the engine and $250 to flush out the transmission (even though they did not find a transmission issue for a 7th time). They told me the cylinders were not scored and were fine so they changed the pistons and rings. Supposedly the said the job cost $3600 +. my A-- how nice of them, (not). Being I paid for the tare down your telling me pistons and rings cost $3600. Bs, still to early to see if the engine is still burning oil. And here's the kicker-(the car only has 50,000 miles on it and I had a 6 year 60,000 mile warranty on it). So now I am still stuck with this transmission issue which they do not have an answer for. Any suggestions on what I should do next. And going back to Chevy is not an acceptable answer unless it's in front of a judge. Any further questions please do not hesitate to E-mail me. I had just exited the highway and was sitting at a red light waiting to turn left, when the light turned I stepped on the throttle like normal and the transmission revved up, clunked into gear started rolling and then began to shudder & vibrate. I had only been able to move about 10 feet. I took my foot off the accelerator as the car felt like it would shake it self to pieces. At this point someone almost back ended me. I then stepped on the accelerator again and didn't move the engine just revved and then another large clunk and the car popped into gear jerked forward almost causing me to lose control of the car. If there were poor weather conditions I feel this transmission issue would have caused an accident.

Transmission is slipping some times the gears do not seem to catch and it slips and jerks the car into gear causing the car to occasionally lose traction during acceleration. Can be a little scary at times.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a traffic stop, the vehicle would not respond and the contact was unable to shift into any gear. After several minutes, the vehicle became responsive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated to the contact that if the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle, then they were unable to assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 71,000.

Car will not shift out of park intermittently. Dealer found wires to be broken and wires that were frayed at the shift solenoid. They removed console to splice and fix the wires. Dealer deemed wear and tear" at 32,000 miles" (console would have covered these wires totally so not sure where the wear and tear would be from). From putting the car in park" drive? reverse" I doubt it was wear and tear.
