My 2000 S10 would not start last week. Had it towed to garage. Figured it was fuel pump. It was, but upon inspection, the fuel tank was rusted out along with the bands holding the tank on. Paid $1,000.74 to have it repaired.

S-10 Pickup 4-cyl

On 9-18-2004 fuel pump was replaced after I was left stuck in rush hour traffic the night before. On 9-23-2005 fuel pump was replaced after complained that the fuel gauge bounces up and down. They then replaced the fuel pump but I had to pay out of pocket for repair because I was 6 days beyond warranty. On 3-1-06 while at the dealership in va the car would not start yet again due to the fuel pump and I had to find yet another way home.

The vehicle stalled. The dealer has had it twice and could not duplicate the problem. This was a serious safety issue. This happened for about a month and was intermittent. It started on August 1, 2005. No warning given, it just quit. The dealer replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump.

I was driving when vehicle engine just stopped. No warning at all. I was able to exit the traffic lanes safely. I was lucky that the traffic was light at that time. The vehicle is a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup with only 41000 miles. Initial problem was the fuel pump according to the Chevrolet dealer. Since this happened to me I've heard of two other Chevy pickups having the same problem.
