At less than 100,000 absolutely babied Km's, the rear end started a very quiet groan, in less than 4 km's it was unbearably loud. I flat bedded it to a dealership where they said that it needs a whole new rear end. With the locking differential, that was a $5000 job, I couldn't afford that. I called GM and told them my situation, that the truck never towed, nor plowed, and I had never even once pushed the pedal to the floor, I was nothing but gentle to it. Several people on the phone told me that, "it shouldn't have happened so soon, and it was a faulty part", but do you think they would even cover half the cost?? Not a cent of help from them, so I had to sell the truck... it broke my heart.

complained of whirring noise for about a year before failure, was repeatedly told it was tire noise, as well as intermittent suspension /hub bearing issues by dealership. Had truck in less than 700 miles before failure complaining noise getting worse. DX: hub bearing #4 on right, tire noise. After differential rebuilt/axles replaced all my "tire noise" was gone!!!! I blame dealership that I was taking truck to for routine maintenance every 3000 mi. suppose to have been checking ALL fluids each time. results of aftermarket warranty inspection: long term fuild leak on right side seals and more recent fluid leak on left. Warranty co wouldn't pay the bill. Dealership told me that it's my problem, not theirs (even though they appear to haveave been checking differential fluid every 3000 mi) Was w/out truck for three weeks! then drove to independent repair facility as not trusting dealership at all and found that drive shaft seal had moderate leaking at back of transfer case!!! they told me it was test driven and all was well.... guess they didn't check for leaks after rebuilt differential, replaced drive shaft and test drove!!! thankfully I followed my insincts or I also would have lost my transfer case!!!!
