SSR Ls1

Took it to the dealer and it was $115.00 just to find out what the problem was. They called me with the problem and told me how much it would be and that floored me. The part is all plastic for crying out loud how can it possibly cost that much and to top it off it has six bolts that hold it onto the radiator and a plug-in electrical nob Talk about feeling like I just got bent over and raped WOW.! I pick up the truck and notice a new strange clicking noise coming from under the dash on the passenger side. I turned right around and went back to the dealer to show the service person. It was not making that noise when I brought it in so what did you guys do ?? The mechanic who did the work on the truck swore up and down that he did not touch that side of the dash but said he ran the AC to make sure that the engine would not overheat while it sat there running with the air on. He should have noticed the noise. The only reason I noticed it was because I turned off the AC when I was driving down the road. The AC was on when they gave the truck back to me. It seems that it is an actuator that is causing the problem and the dealer is saying it is just a coincidence that this is happening so now I have another problem with this thing that has to be fixed. It pisses me off that no one wants to take responsibility for anything anymore. Tomorrow I will call the general manager and let him have a good earful. We have bought two cars from this dealership and if I don't get some satisfaction those will be the last I by from there

cooling fan motor defective - stoped working at 13,000 miles

This seems to be a common problem with the SSR and the internet is replete with others having the same problem. The cooling fan for the engine is an electronic controlled device with a little motor. The motor on the fan cannot be worth more than $15 but the entire housing must be replaced at a part cost of $1,013.

My SSR has only 13,000 miles on it and has been maintained and cared for exceptionally well. I bought it two years ago from a Chevrolet dealer (the original selling dealer) when it had only 1,700 miles verified by the dealer and Carfax. SInce then in two years we have put 11,000 miles on it, mostly on trips of several hundred miles on the highways. About half of the miles are local trips of 25 miles or less.

There is no way a small electronic motor should have failed. The failure caused the motor to over heat and the AC to blow hot air.
