The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for routine maintenance when the technician detected that the catalytic converter was defective. The contact stated that there was an unusual odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired since the part was not available. The estimated repair cost was $1,683.36. The manufacturer advised the contact that the catalytic converter was no longer being produced for his year, make and model vehicle. There was a significant concern of a potential fire hazard.
