Silverado LS 5.3L V8 Vortec

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,228 miles

Okay, I have a 2000 chevy Silverado 5.3L V8 with 50,000 miles. I bought it from a previous owner and it had been sitting for a while. After a few weeks of driving it I soon was having to turn it over 5-7 times in order for it to start. Even though it WILL start everytime after you turn it over half a dozen times its just a royal pain in the ASS, also an embarrassment. I have tried to put fuel additives in with every time I fill up for about 3 fill-ups to try and get the gunk out of the fuel lines if their was any but as usual, this has not changed anything. I have read all the other complaints with this truck and I too have inaccurate fuel gauge. And last but not least I too have a "Rough" idle and start. if anyone has a solution with the tough starting hit me with a reply. Seriously.. this is annoying the f*ck out of me and wanting to drive it into a lake/ ravine.

On another subject i have a squeeky belt, all Idid was replace the Serpentine belt tightner its just a plastic circle with a bearing in the middle that was wore and was squeeking there is 2 of these and i replaced both of them. They cost around $18-$20 dollars at NAPA.

Silverado 4.3L Vortec V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles

My truck will not start on rainy days ,either hot or cold, the high humidity is the problem, I changed the plugs along with the distributor and rotor button, but no fix, if the sun comes out or the humidity level falls and I wait for an hour or so it will start. Runs fine until next wet period. Talked with Chevy dealership and no satisfaction, said there were no re-calls on record. Wondering if any other Chevy Silverado owners have same problem, this is a real pain in the ass. This problem makes me want to sell this truck but it only has a total of 74,000 actual miles. I would appreciate it very much if you can help me solve this problem.........

Silverado Z1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,923 miles

Took our Chevy into Yellowknife Motors (Yellowknife, NT Canada) for winterizing and were told we should get our block heater cord fixed before it got really cold (it gets to -40C up here). Took it home as it's a simple fix that we can do ourselves. When it hit -25C the engine had trouble turning over - they had disconnected the block heater, battery blanket and the command start! After all the service issues we've been having, we feel Yellowknife Motors was trying to sabotage our vehicle. Since it's no longer under warranty, we will NEVER return to Yellowknife Motors again.

Silverado LS 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

Around 90,000 miles I had to crank the truck twice to start it, and now nearly a year later I still have to crank it twice... EVERYTIME. I have replaced batteries, cables and got the fuel system checked to no avail. I just have to deal with it and it is annoying and at times embarrassing.

Silverado

Our truck has had problems starting for 10 years now. We have bought 4 new batteries. The terminals were tightened down many times for a temporary time the truck would start. We were told to buy top battery cables because the side ones have always had problems. We tried a lot better brand of battery. To no avail our truck still has problems starting. They have tried other ways by putting in a new starter. If this is not a recall I don't know why. It has been a huge annoyance.
